We are well versed in the bills and laws governing O.T. services such as the Regulated Health Professions Act and Occupational Therapy Act, and have had years of experience working within the MVA Insurance, Private files, ADP, Blue Cross, MOHLTC and community service realms. Our assessments and treatment help improve clients’ function at home, in the community and in the workplace.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

Fisher, Franic & Associates has years of experience carrying out assessments and treatments to aid clients involved in a motor vehicle accident. We access the appropriate benefits for work, personal care, care giving and housekeeping. Comprehensive assessments are carried out to determine the level of severity of injury, including catastrophic versus non-catastrophic injury with the consideration of cognitive, physical, emotional, and psychological impacts. Both objective and subjective data are collected to develop detailed and justified recommendations for client care. We are well versed in the forms and documentation required in motor-vehicle accidents, including the SABS guidelines.

Assistive Devices Program

We assess the needs of each client, determine eligibility for assistive devices and recommend assistive devices needed to help clients increase independence, function and safety. We have a working knowledge of assistive devices currently available and a full list of available registered vendors. We also assist in the identification and recommendation of appropriate mobility aids, working with client selected vendors to ensure clients receive appropriate assessment and equipment trials.

Medical-Legal

Through the use of detailed subjective and objective assessments, Fisher, Franic & Associates is able to clearly identify the effect an accident or disability has had on a client’s cognitive, physical, emotional and/or psychological functioning in order to develop a comprehensive and defendable report. We can aid in claim issue settlements related to attendant care, vocational abilities and catastrophic assessments to name but a few.

Ministry of Health & Long Term Care

Our therapists provide services within the client’s community and long-term care facility by assessing barriers and supports and treating physical, psychological, behavioural, and cognitive functioning to increase independence and engagement in meaningful activities of daily living. We can assist with chronic disease management, falls risk education and prevention, re-engagement in leisure, social and productivity roles and increased independence in self-care and activities of daily living. As always, the clients’ abilities, activity demands and physical, institutional and social environment are considered during assessment and treatment planning.
